The Government's given £5 million in development funding to reopen the stations in Cullompton and Wellington in neighbouring Somerset.

Both are on the line between Taunton and Exeter. They closed in 1964 as part of the Beeching Cuts.

Cullompton station was next to the M5 near the current service area.

Ministers say these investments will help reconnect local communities and support regional growth

Neil Parish, the Conservative MP for Tiverton and Honiton, told the BBC: "I am absolutely thrilled the chancellor has given his backing to reopen Cullompton railway station".

It's hope the reopened station would become part of the planned Devon Metro system.
